The South Dakota School of Mines & Technology (South Dakota Mines) Physics Department invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant or Associate Professor of Physics position in experimental nuclear or particle physics. The department has developed strong research programs in neutrino physics, direct detection of dark matter, nuclear astrophysics, and cosmic-ray physics, with a vibrant, growing Ph.D. program and proximity to the Sanford Underground Research Facility (SURF) in Lead, South Dakota. SURF is the host of several world-class underground experiments including DUNE, LZ, MAJORANA Demonstrator, and CASPAR. In addition to the experiments at SURF, we are involved in SuperCDMS, IceCube, MicroBooNE, and LEGEND. While we will consider strong candidates in any area of experimental nuclear or particle physics, we are particularly interested in candidates whose work will benefit from the proximity to SURF and/or relate to our research in this field.
